Snow Removal

The Village of Bridgeview Public Works Department takes pride in their snow removal procedures and has approximately seven pieces of equipment that is used to keep the Village streets clear for pedestrians and motoring public.

  • On-street parking
The Village prohibits parking on Village streets after one inch (1”) of snowfall. The plow on the front end of the truck is approximately ten to twelve feet wide, and cars parked in the street during plowing operations interfere with our ability
to clear snow. If a car is parked in the street, a ticket will be issued the Bridgeview Police Department.

  • Driveways
One of the more common problems residents will experience is snow deposited back at the end of the driveway by plow after residents have already spent the time and effort of shoveling it. Unfortunately there is no practical way to avoid this, so we will appreciate your understanding when this happens.

  • Safety
Due to the size of our trucks and the need to spread salt, please try to remain one hundred feet behind these vehicles.

  • Questions
If you have any problems or questions regarding the Village’s plowing operations, please call Public Works Operations at 708-924-8053 and we will do are best to assist you.

Street Sweeper

In efforts to keep the streets of Bridgeview, shining bright our sweeper is out at all time weather permitting. Public Works owns and operates its own truck.

Water Systems

The Public Works Department is responsible for the quality of the drinking water in the Village. The Department also maintains the water storage tanks and distribution system. The primary source of drinking water is Lake Michigan. If you see a quantity of water coming out of the ground, it may be a broken water main. Please report any broken water mains by calling the Public Works Department during normal business hours, or the Police Department at 708-458-2135, on nights or weekends. Leaking fire hydrants should also be reported.

Sanitary Sewers

The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system within the Village. Residents are responsible for the repair and maintenance of their individual sewer service (from the house to the main sewer line). Please call the Department for more information.
